Integrative Capstone Project Introduction
The Integrative Capstone Project is a course that gives the participants the opportunity to utilize the knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired in the MEd. program. Throughout the course the participants will plan and implement technological strategies that will be incorportated into the curriculum and can meet the needs of authentic real-world classroom problems. Participants will create a web-based portfolio to document development, implementation, results, and future reccomendations of the educational technology used to improve measureable learner outcomes.
Project Focus
The focus of this Integrative Captone Project was writing for primary grades 1-2. Reading and writing are two main skills that come hand-in-hand.One cannot go without the other. First grade is the level in which students are learning the foundations and structure of writing, and often times students at this level have difficulty organizing and expressing their thoughts in written form. Throughout this project, I worked with software and/or Web 2.0 tools that use graphic organizers to improve student writing both in quality and quantity.
The project was be completed through a set of phases called the Technology Integration Model (TIP Model) described in Educational Technolgy into Teaching by Roblyer and Doering (2010).
